Crossbasket Castle near Glasgow opens as luxury hotel

Luxury Scottish historic venue, Crossbasket Castle in Blantyre has just opened as a hotel under the management of Inverlochy Castle Management International. The cuisine and menus have been overseen by Chef Albert Roux OBE and Michel Roux Jnr.

Set in manicured garden grounds, the hotel is only 30 minutes from Glasgow city centre and offers nine palatial bedrooms, including a bridal suite on four floors, and banquet hall that seats 250 people.

The oldest part of the Castle is the 15th Century Tower, built on a hill high above the river. Now known as the Honeymoon Tower, it is a fabulous, romantic 4-storey suite served by a sweeping spiral stone staircase.

The castle grounds include a large stretch of woodland, extensive nature walks and a beautiful stretch of river featuring waterfalls.

Steve Timoney, chief executive of Lochlane Investments, and his wife Alison Reid-Timoney bought Crossbasket Castle in 2011, and have invested over £9m in a restoration scheme.
