Laki Kane set for July launch

Laki Kane, the highly-anticipated exotic tropical escape bar coming to Islington, will officially open its doors on Friday 6 July.

This unique cocktail bar is the collaborative creation of life long Islington resident and businessman Steve Kyprianou, Islington local finance and operations manager, Sam Robson, and ex-Mahiki bar manager Georgi Radev, who has over 16 years experience managing bars and high end spirit brands and is a leading tiki, rum and cocktail expert.

Committed to delivering a real tropical escape, a menu of exquisite cocktails has been created using the finest rums, sugar cane syrups and a hand-picked selection of rare and exotic ingredients. The cleverly designed cocktails have been created using a method that delivers endlessly on flavour but uses only natural sweeteners and zero refined sugars.

The signature 'Laki Kane' cocktail offers the rich indulgence of Bacardi Cuatro Dark Rum and Mozart Dry Chocolate Vodka, shaken with Soursop Tea, Cupuacu, Guanabana and Sugar Cane Juice.

Looking forward to the launch of Laki Kane, Georgi Radev said, 'Laki Kane is an escape from the norm and we're creating everything with that in mind. From the decor and service, to the food and an exciting cocktail menu made with incredible tropical ingredients that most people will have never experienced before.'

A food menu designed by renowned chef Michael Moore, will feature tropical-inspired dishes to compliment the cocktail offering. For those after something small, there are sharing plates such as flatbread with guacamole, spiced tomato & coriander and rum creme fraiche dips, as well as light mains, like the charred papaya & lime salad.

Fresh seafood dishes including the fruits de mer populate the menu along with a selection of exciting rum-based deserts, for that extra tropical twist. The menu draws inspiration from the tropical locations that have inspired its founders. Exceptional service will be at the heart of Laki Kane with each table featuring push buttons for guests to call for service whenever they need it.

Co-founder, Steve Kyprianou, said, 'With my roots firmly in Islington, it's exciting to finally be able to announce the opening date for Laki Kane. Everyone has been so supportive of the project, so we can't wait to welcome you all in to show our thanks.

'From start to finish, Laki Kane has been a labour of love for our team, perfecting every little detail from the menu, to the design, to the staffing, in order to create a bar that we are all thoroughly proud of. Make sure you pop in for a cocktail or two, and let us know what you think!'

The Spiced Dry Rum Club, Laki Kane's exclusive upstairs bar, will host a unique rum experience, run by London's top rum experts. With 17th century style etched throughout the design, guests will be taken on a rum discovery through the past, present and future of rum, culminating in guests creating their own bottle of rum personalised to their taste.

During the 3.5 hour rum experience, guests will learn about the unique Laki Kane re-distillation process, indulge in rum tastings, experiment with different rum-based cocktails and use their own hand-made, copper, alembic pot-still to re-distill their own rum, based on the exact natural ingredients that match their desired taste. Each guest's uniques distillation will be recorded so that bottles can be re-ordered in the future.

Open from 12:30pm, Monday - Sunday, and featuring late license trading until 1:30 - 2:30am, Thursday - Sunday, Laki Kane is a place for afternoon refreshment, early evening sundowners and late-night cocktails.
