Monin report shows 33.8 million Brits to head out of home for summer drink


Monin has just revealed the latest consumer behaviours, demands and desires in its brand new Summer Drink Trends Report.

The tailored guide has been created to help bars, pubs and restaurants maximise the season’s opportunities, by detailing key highlights from bespoke research, offering expert advice and custom recipes.

Monin’s digital tool includes the results of a nationwide survey which canvased 1,000 consumers on their summertime behaviours, preferences and habits when it comes to heading out for a drink.

The report features regional differences to help outlets get it right in their specific geographical location. As well as revealing age related inclinations from students to the retired, enabling venues to offer the right drink to the right audience.

The findings included the following
• 38% (33.8 million) of consumers are more likely to go for drinks in the summer compared to winter
• 1 in 5 go out for a summer tipple three or more times a week during the summer
• 18-24 year-olds are most likely to have the longest dwell time with 47% staying three hours or more
• Sales of cocktails rise with 66% of consumers selecting one, compared to just 2% in the winter
• 82% of consumers choose to head out with friends
• 51% of 18-34 year-olds will purchase a beverage with a fruity flavour
• Londoners are prepared to pay the most for an alcoholic cocktail at an average of £7.15
• Strawberry is the most popular summer flavour

In addition to unveiling the UK’s top five preferred summer flavours, the guide includes ideas for driving footfall, increasing dwell time and enhancing the overall customer experience, all with the aim of helping establishments maximise sales. The handbook also incorporates recommendations from Monin, on suggested flavour combinations as well as popular drink formats.
