The founders of pub chain Realpubs, Malcolm Heap and Nick Pring, have purchased a second pub for their newly formed pub company Urban Pubs and Bars which was set up last year.
The purchase of the Old Ship Inn in Hackney, an Enterprise Inns free-of-tie lease follows the opening of their first pub The Whippet Inn in Kensal Rise, also a free-of-tie lease last month.
Heap and Pring aim to grow Urban Pubs & Bars over the next four years with up to 20 sites across central London and its urban villages.
Malcom Heap said ‘We are very excited to be in Hackney for our second site. The Old Ship Inn is a great pub and this will be our first foray into the pub hotel market – we expect the ten rooms to continue to be a great income stream for the business.’
