Luton Airport to double in size creating 5,000 jobs

Luton Airport has won government approval to double in size, with the creation of about 5,000 jobs. The expansion would enable the airport to handle an extra 45,000 extra flights.

Construction will take place over three phases and will expand, modernise and remodel the terminal building. It will include increased retail, catering, circulation and seating areas.

London Luton Airport is one of the UK’s largest airports and carried 9.7 million passengers in 2013. The Airport directly and indirectly employs over 600 and 8,000 staff respectively.
