Lancashire pub set for £1m transformation

The Cock and Bottle, a popular pub in Tarleton, Preston, is to have a substantial investment of £1m to transform it.

The pub will close on 24 July and reopen in October with a new family dining space, bakery-patisserie-coffee station, plus a front beer garden, and a breakfast menu.

It will be one of the largest pub investment projects this year for Thwaites, who is partnering with Fayre Inns, which already runs successful pubs such as The Ship at Caton and The Hunters at Lostock Hall.

Customers will see the difference at The Cock and Bottle as soon as they enter, the function suite will be turned into an open plan family dining space and the lobby will become a glazed seating area. There will be a striking open beam ceiling, log burning stove and booth-style seating.

Steven Greenhalf, from Fayre Inns, said, 'I'm so excited about this refurbishment. The pub has been in Tarleton for many, many years and it is going to be fantastic to see such an investment in the building. We want the pub to be at the heart of the community and with this development, we think people are going to really enjoy visiting it.'

Director of Pubs and Brewing at Daniel Thwaites, Andrew Buchanan, said: 'It's going to be great working with Fayre Inns on this investment project. We already have a number of very successful pubs that we have developed with them, including The Hunters in Lostock Hall.

'The refurbishment will breathe new life into the pub - it's going to look fantastic and I can't wait to see the transformation.'
