The Athenian to open sixth site in Tooting this week

The Athenian, which launched its first permanent outlet this year, is to open its on-the-go sixth site in Tooting on 19 July, serving up modern Greek street food.

The brand, which has five London sites and one in Bristol, will be serving up its signature souvlaki and gyros – handmade pita wrapped around chargrilled meat or cheese, that has been marinated in olive oil, lemon and Greek herbs.

The menu will include Chicken, pork, ground lamb and beef, gyros, halloumi, mushrooms & vegan gyros, Souvlaki, and Dakos – Creatan barley rusk, topped with finely sliced tomatoes, feta cheese, red onions, and Kalamata olives dressed in oregano and Cretan extra virgin olive oil

There will also be Oregano fries with feta, and dips such as Tyrokafteri – spicy feta and red pepper dip, and Melitzanosalata – smoked aubergine dip with tahini.

For a sweet treat, The Athenian will deliver Loukoumades, fluffy, Greek doughnuts drenched in honey or chocolate sauce.

For beverages, a range of new Greek beers will be showcased, drawn from the country’s emerging craft brewing scene, as well as wines and soft drinks.
