£5m Hampshire hotel changes hands

The currently closed Headley Park hotel in Borden, Hampshire has been sold by its owner, Landhold Developments, off a guide price of £5m to an undisclosed buyer.

The London development firm had acquired the 40-acre estate in 2016, which included extensive lawns, lakes and woodland, and came with a £2.5m price tag.

The group then secured planning permission to refurbish the 24-bed venue to create a new 73-bed hotel and resort, with 14 lakeside lodges and a family holiday cottage. A new barn to house a restaurant, spa and wellness centre were also planned.

Headley Park was built between 1884 and 1891 and has been extended by various owners over subsequent years. In the 1950s, the property was acquired and operated as a community centre, a retirement home, and finally, a sports and social club, by a trust on behalf of the Lithuanian expatriate community.
