Populat Devon coast tea room changes hands

The Cosy Teapot, a thriving and well-regarded traditional tea rooms and tea garden, has sold through Stonesmith. It occupies a prominent trading position, close to the seafront, in the main street of the popular and attractive East Devon resort of Budleigh Salterton.

The ground floor is home to the main Tea Room, with 26 covers, and the Brookside Trade Terrace to the front, seats a further 18 customers.

New owner Anthony Bird commented, “Deborah and I are pleased to have acquired The Cosy Teapot and to join the business community in Budleigh Salterton. We look forward to welcoming customers old and new.

'The business will remain open during the winter months - we plan to introduce some new dishes to complement the existing menu and to carry on the tradition of serving quality meals at a competitive price.”

Mike Phillips, Director of Stonesmith said, “The sale of The Cosy Teapot generated significant levels of interest and we were able to swiftly agree terms with Anthony and Deborah. We wish them every success with their new venture.”
