Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford welcomes new head chef

Manchester's Emirates Old Trafford has announced the appointment of a new Head Chef within the Hilton Garden Inn. Liam Rutherford, who has a wealth of experience across high-profile venues, has taken up the position at the four-star hotel.

Rutherford joins the hotel following a role as Head Chef at The Clarence in Bury, which saw him lead a team to achieve Best Food Pub in Manchester 2017 in the Manchester Food and Drink Awards. Prior to this, he held the Senior Sous Chef position at the Montcalm Hotel, Chiswell Street in the city of London.

Michael Hewson, General Manager, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Liam to our growing team and he joins us at an exciting time, with the Specsavers Ashes and ICC World Cup being hosted at the ground next year.

“He brings a lot of creative talent and experience to the role, having also worked in a number of high profile establishments, including Gary Rhodes Brasserie and The Arch Hotel, London. He’s a fantastic addition to lead our kitchen team as the hotel continues to go from strength to strength.”

Rutherford has also worked as part of Sanctum Special Events, providing catering at Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds Festival. He said, “I’m delighted to be joining the team here at the Hilton Garden Inn, as it’s such a unique hotel. I am looking forward to leading the team during what promises to be a brilliant year for the hotel and the Club.”

The Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford opened in August 2017. Boasting 150 bedrooms across five floors, with 85 overlooking the famous Lancashire Cricket pitch, it has become a must-visit hotel for business and leisure guests alike in Manchester.
