Still glowing from the recent AA 5-star rating in March, Palé Hall hotel and restaurant in Gwynedd has just received a 5-star rating from the assessors of Visit Wales.
This is the first time Visit Wales has given a 98% pass mark. The Visit Wales rating system is as rigorous as any of the national assessment schemes and 5 stars denotes a hotel whose standards are ‘Exceptional with a degree of luxury’.
Opened in September last year, Palé Hall is one of only three establishments in Wales to enjoy this five star status.
General Manager Pim Wolfs said, “We are thrilled to have received this five star rating from Visit Wales. As a hotel, we are focused on providing the best hospitality experience in Wales are a committed in our support of welsh produce, local employment and all that the welsh countryside has to offer.
'The five-star rating is a huge accomplishment and it is wonderful that Visit Wales has given us this recognition.”
Owners Alan and Angela Harper have restored the historic building to its former glory. Situated on edge of Snowdonia National Park, the hotel has earnt high praise for its food from Head Chef Gareth Stevenson, who has been guided by the two Michelin-starred Michael Caines. Stevenson works with nearby Rhug estate and other local producers to celebrate the best that Wales has to offer.
Economy Secretary, Ken Skates, said “This is a fantastic achievement and excellent news for the hotel and for Wales. I’d like to congratulate the team at Palé Hall for achieving such high standards – and for investing in the quality of the product. Our visitors expect consistently high standards and a quality experience will entice people back to Wales time and again. I wish the team every success for the future.”
