This Christmas, Wahaca, the Mexican market eating restaurant, will be revolutionising Christmas celebrations with the launch of their group feasting menus.
Standing up to the UK’s apathy with traditional, lacklustre festive meals, Wahaca is protesting the same old turkey & sprouts, opting instead for ‘tacos not turkey’, ‘salsa not sprouts’ and ‘margaritas not mulled wine’.
From 20 November, two Christmas feasting menus will be available for groups looking to celebrate the festive season with a Mexican twist.
All the dishes, developed by co-founder and Masterchef winner Thomasina Miers, are served family-style, with sharing plates and make-your-own taco boards – perfect for getting into the festive spirit of sharing and socialising.
For a quintessentially Mexican celebration, ‘The Rebellion Banquet’, priced at £30 per person, will kick off with a selection of street food starters for the table to share, followed by ‘make your own tacos’ feasting boards where diners can choose from a range of seasonal fillings, such as, Confit British duck legs in a Veracruzan sauce, Four-hour slow-cooked beef shin, spiced with anise & cinnamon, Carrot & celeriac tinga in a smoky tomato sauce (v), and Roasted winter vegetables with white sesame pipan (v).
Accompaniments include chipotle cauliflower cheese; chipotle meco, spiced cranberry & tomatillo salsas; twice-cooked black beans, and lots of warm tortillas to wrap it all up in.
For lighter fare, ‘The Revolutionist’s Feast’, priced at £25 per person, will feature a selection of street food plates to share, with highlights including: Wahaca’s signature slow-cooked pork pibil tacos, Roasted sweet potato, caramelised onion & feta taquitos
, Smoked salmon tostadas with avocado.
Both menus start with classic guacamole & corn tortilla chips, and end with Wahaca’s legendary churros y chocolate.
For those wanting to get into the Mexican party spirit, a line-up of freshly shaken seasonal margaritas and cocktails will be available alongside the very best selection of Mexican tequila and mezcal, as well as buckets of beers and pitchers of margaritas for large groups.
All of Wahaca’s restaurants can accommodate large groups for a sit-down meal to enjoy the new Christmas revolution menus. They also have cocktail bars in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff; for those looking for a more informal celebration, these are available for group bookings or private hire, with a variety of cocktails and Mexican street food canapes from £12 per person.
Christmas revolution menus launch at all Wahaca’s across the UK from 20 November and are available through until 24 December.
