Roadchef plans £57m A1(M) service station

One of the UK’s largest motorway service area (MSA) operators, Roadchef, planning a new service station in Catterick, located east of junction 52 on the new A1(M).

The plan would see an initial £57m investment in building the state-of-the-art site to serve the 50,000 motorists using the Catterick stretch of the motorway every day.

The new site would bring over 300 permanent job opportunities for locals living in the area, as well as numerous jobs during the construction phase.

Simon Turl, Executive Chairman at Roadchef, commented, “Our vision is to make Britain’s roads a safer and happier place, and Catterick presents a fantastic opportunity to create a new MSA in the 60 mile gap between the nearest facilities.'

The company brings an excellent portfolio of recognised brands to British roadsides, including some of the biggest names in hospitality such as McDonalds, Costa Coffee, Pret a Manger and healthy fast food brand LEON.

Roadchef currently employs more than 3,600 people in the UK, across its 30 locations, and has been awarded an Investors in People Gold accreditation for the support and development of its team.
