Swedish furniture retailer Ikea has been granted its first UK planning consent for a major mixed-use scheme to the south of the Olympic Park and Stratford High Street in London’s east end. The scheme was granted permission in July this year from the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) to LandProp who is the property arm of Ikea.
Situated on a ten hectare site, the plans for the project include 1,200 new homes, appoximately 58,000 square metres of business and commercial space and a 350 bedroom hotel, as well as shops, restaurants and cafes.
LandProp acquired the site from the Olympic Park Legacy Company – now the London Legacy Development Corporation which will take full power of the LTGCD next week.
