JJ Foodservice has increased salaries to £40k for HGV drivers at its London branches to position itself as a leading player in the foodservice market.
Currently, drivers in Enfield, Dagenham and Sidcup are paid £35K but this will increase to £40K.
“Drivers already have a hard job – we want to create the best working environment for them with the comfort of an office job,” said Head of Operations, Kaan Hendekli.
In addition to the salary increase, the wholesaler is offering state-of-the-art vehicles, no evenings or weekends, local deliveries, no rotas or shift work and consistent start times.
“On top of offering a great work-life balance, our drivers also have a stable, daily routine and the support of a driver’s mate,” said Hendekli.
JJ supplies more than 83,000 restaurants and homes across 11 UK branches.
“Offering excellent working conditions for drivers will help us to grow our delivery team to support even more customers in the future,” added Hendekli.
The Government has announced that it will issue temporary visas to 5000 HGV drivers in the UK. There are currently more than 100,000 vacancies to fill.
With just 1% of UK HGV drivers female, JJ is actively encouraging more females to consider HGV driver roles.
