McDonald’s has launched a recruitment drive to hire more over-50s, amid a rush of businesses across the country to fill jobs with retirees.
The fast-food giant is among companies launching new recruitment campaigns targeting older workers, with adverts released by McDonald’s showing a more mature worker, who ‘isn’t the type to retire', taking advantage of of a job in the chain.
The move comes months after the company banned what it considered to be stereotypical words for young people - such as 'energetic' and 'enthusiastic' - in job postings to avoid deterring older applicants.
The company will also roll out Mid-Life MOTs for all employees over 45 later this year, which will give staff the opportunity to review their wealth, health and career.
Speaking to The Telegraph, a spokesperson for McDonald's said the company was 'exceptionally proud of our inclusive and diverse workforce, and our latest recruitment campaign reflects that'. They added that older workers were 'an integral part' of their restaurant teams.
