Community-focused coffee shop, Coffee#1 has opened a brand-new coffee house in the centre of Cheltenham as the business continues the acceleration of its opening programme.
The store is the brand’s second opening in Cheltenham, joining the existing site in Montpelier Gardens, and is the 11th new opening since the pandemic, creating 12 new jobs in the area.
The town centre location on the High Street is situated opposite John Lewis and is well positioned to take advantage of the extensive footfall in the area with the store able to accommodate up to 90 customers internally and a further 8 externally.
Customers visiting the new store can relax with premium hand-crafted coffee, and an enticing menu, which includes breakfast pastries, baps and paninis and an extensive range of cakes.
Founded in 2001 and now operating across Wales the Southwest, the South Coast and parts of the Midlands, the Central Cheltenham store is the 111th store Coffee#1 owns.
Coinciding with the opening in Cheltenham, Coffee#1 has also confirmed the successful rollout of UberEats at 82 of its locations. The rollout followed a pilot period in the month and has increased the brand’s availability through delivery.
Commenting on the new opening, Managing Director Bruce Newman said, “Cheltenham is one of a number of towns where we feel there is sufficient market strength for a second Coffee#1. We have historically traded successfully across multiple locations in larger cities including Bristol and Cardiff.
'We’ve also been delighted with the performance of our two Bath locations and feel optimistic that Cheltenham can be similarly successful. Once again, it’s been a colossal team effort to get to this point and we are thrilled to be under way.”
Of the partnership with UberEats Bruce said, “While Coffee#1 remains primarily about a drink-in experience, the demand for our delicious Barista made coffee in home is also clear. The rollout has gone well and we see plenty of scope to build a scale and incremental business through delivery in the next 12-months.”
Coffee#1 recently confirmed strong trading with like for like sales hitting 117% of their 2019 levels as the business continued to successfully rebound from the pandemic.
