The Resident hotel group is set to open its fifth location in London, situated in Farringdon, in 2027. This is part of the company's strategy to expand by adding up to 2,000 rooms over the next five years.
The City of London Council has granted planning permission for the development of a 128-room hotel to Mactaggart Family & Partners, the founders and majority owners of Resident Hotels.
The property has been designed by EPR Architects, a firm previously involved with notable projects such as the Ned, the OWO, and NoMad hotels.
Resident Farringdon will feature a third-party-operated restaurant, a café, a library lounge, retail spaces, and a garden.
The team has been working with the sustainable development advisory firm Arup to ensure the hotel features a low-carbon ventilation system and diverts more than 95% of demolition and construction waste to landfill.
William Laxton, chief executive of Mactaggart Family & Partners, said: “The Resident Farringdon will offer guests a home-from-home experience, from which they can explore this thriving neighbourhood, with bars, restaurants, galleries, museums and performance venues only steps away, all activated by some of the best infrastructure in Europe in the form of the Elizabeth Line at Farringdon East.”
