Aldi to create 1,000 new store jobs by the end of 2024

Aldi is set to create 1,000 jobs in new stores across the UK between now and the end of the year.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket announced that the available roles will include managerial positions, caretakers, cleaners, and store apprentices.

The discounter, which operates over 1,020 stores and employs more than 45,000 people, plans to open an average of one new store per week until Christmas. Upcoming store openings include locations in Plymouth, Leeds, and London.

In May, Aldi implemented its second pay increase of the year for store colleagues, bringing the supermarket’s total investment in pay for 2024 to £79 million. Starting pay for store assistants at Aldi is now £12.40 per hour nationally, rising to £13.35 per hour, and £13.65 per hour inside the M25, increasing to £13.95 per hour.

Aldi UK recruitment director Kelly Stokes said: “As we continue to open in new areas, we’re looking to welcome hundreds more colleagues to our amazing teams across the country.

“We want even more people to be a part of our success in the future, which is why we offer a great working environment and opportunities to progress within the business.”

This year, the retailer has invested over £90 million in store improvements to ensure that the 'shopping experience is on par with the high-quality products.'
