David Loewi will be stepping down as Chief Executive of D&D London at the end of the year.
The co-founder of D&D London will remain on as an advisor to the board until a replacement is found.
Loewi, trained at a Swiss hotel school, began his hospitality career at Claridge’s before moving to Hyatt International. In 1995, he joined Sir Terence Conran to launch Mezzo (now D&D's 100 Wardour Street) in London’s Soho and later supported D&D’s expansion as COO.
In 2006, Des Gunewardena and David Loewi bought out Sir Terence Conran’s restaurant company and expanded the business internationally under the name D&D.
In 2020, the pair were awarded Restaurateur of the Year – Group at the Cateys.
Loewi became interim CEO of the restaurant and hotel group in 2022 after Gunewardena left the business to 'pursue other ventures,' including the launch of D3 Collective.
Loewi continued in the role after D&D London was sold to investors Calverton and Breal Capital in October 2023.
A spokesperson for D&D London stated that bookings for Christmas are ahead of last year and that the company plans to expand 'both in the UK and internationally' in the new year.
Loewi said: “After much reflection, I have made the decision to step down from my role as CEO at D&D London. It has been an incredible journey, and I am deeply proud of all that we have accomplished. We’ve continuously pushed boundaries and created beautiful restaurants in some of the most exceptional buildings in the UK, Paris and New York.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support and shared passion that all my amazing colleagues, partners, and clients have brought to this journey, and I look forward to watching D&D London flourish in the years to come.
“I sincerely wish the entire team the very best as they carry on the mission and vision of this great organisation.”
D&D London owns and operates more than 40 restaurants, in addition to the South Place hotel.
