Joe & the Juice has announced plans to open hundreds of additional UK stores as part of its global expansion strategy.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2002, Joe & the Juice operates 65 cafés in the UK and nearly 400 locations worldwide.
The brand aims to expand to 1,000 global stores over the next five years, including opening more locations in London and across the UK.
The expansion follows private equity firm General Atlantic’s acquisition of a controlling stake in Joe & the Juice in 2023, with plans to grow the business globally.
Joe & the Juice reported UK sales surpassing £45 million for the first time in 2022, according to filings, though losses widened from £1.5 million to £4.5 million. However, management projected a 20%-30% increase in turnover for 2023.
Starting January 2025, Joe & the Juice will launch an exclusive partnership with Deliveroo, offering its sandwiches, shakes, and coffees on-demand from 60 locations in Birmingham, Brighton, Oxford, Kent, Liverpool, and Greater London.
Joe & the Juice first partnered with Deliveroo in 2019, starting with just five sites, and has since expanded the collaboration to include all its UK stores.
Digital sales now account for 29% of Joe & the Juice’s business, reaching an all-time high for the brand, according to Deliveroo. The delivery partnership is viewed as a key driver for further growth.
“Our customers are increasingly seeking healthier options and Joe & the Juice is perfectly positioned to meet this demand,” said Carlo Mocci, chief business officer Europe at Deliveroo.
“With this new exclusive partnership, we believe we’re offering Deliveroo customers the very best selection in London and beyond.”
Sandwiches dominate the top five most-ordered items from Joe & the Juice on Deliveroo, with the spicy tuna sandwich being the most popular choice.
