David Mulcahy is set to depart from his role at contract caterer Sodexo after nearly two decades with the company.
David Mulcahy, who joined Sodexo from Compass in 2006 as craft and food development director, will be leaving the company after nearly 20 years. Most recently serving as food innovation and sustainability director, Mulcahy played a key role in supporting chef development, advancing food procurement strategies, and fostering strategic partnerships across the business.
David Mulcahy's departure follows that of Sean Hayley, who recently announced he will step down from his role as chief executive at the end of the year, marking another high-profile exit from
Mulcahy said: “I have been doing some reminiscing lately, with nearly 20 years with Sodexo through some amazing and memorable times.
“Each chapter has had its unforgettable moments. So many it’s difficult to single any out.
“From delivering masterclasses on cookery skills in Hackney to a group of long term unemployed young people, to taking Sodexo chef of the year to the tip of Norway in the shadow of the North Pole to catch fish and cook it under the Northern Lights.
“From creating one of the largest Salon Culinaires in the UK (complete with DJ and Street food village) to travelling to Gambia with the World Food Programme and United Nations representing Stop Hunger to meet, listen to and learn from people facing such poverty that changes you forever.”
Mulcahy has won multiple Culinary Olympic and World Cup Gold medals, both as an individual and as a member of the UK National Culinary Team.
David Mulcahy received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the inaugural Foodservice Cateys in 2013, recognising his contributions to promoting catering standards within the industry. He has also been honored with an Order of Merit from the Craft Guild of Chefs, where he currently serves as vice president, having previously held the position of chairman.
David Mulcahy is expected to remain involved in the culinary community as the coordinator for various prestigious competitions, including the UK National Chef of the Year, Young National Chef of the Year, and The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards. Additionally, he will continue his role as chairman of FutureChef.
