Claridge’s appoints Thomas Kochs as Managing Director

Thomas Kochs has been named Managing Director of Claridge’s, the hotel in London’s Mayfair.

Kochs has served as Managing Director at Corinthia London since 2017 and was previously in the same role at Hotel Café Royal.

He returns to the hotel after previously serving as its General Manager from 2009 to 2015.

He has also held positions at The Berkeley and The Connaught—both part of Claridge’s luxury parent company, Maybourne—and currently serves as a trustee of the Gold Service Scholarship.

Kochs said: “I am so looking forward to being reunited with a hotel and colleagues very dear to my heart and steering Claridge’s, a much loved and revered hotel, into the next chapter of its distinguished history. I am also particularly proud to be rejoining Maybourne as it enters a dynamic period of global growth and expansion and seeing this vision come to life.”

Roland Fasel, chief operating officer of Maybourne, added: “We know with Thomas’s reputation for innovation, creativity and the highest service standards he will ensure that Claridge’s reinforces its position as the leading hotel in the beating heart of Mayfair, as well as a legend on the world stage.”

Kochs’ appointment follows the completion of Claridge’s extensive seven-year renovation and restoration project, which introduced a range of new additions including a spa, rooftop swimming pool, art gallery, café, and three additional floors featuring 72 new suites.

Maybourne operates a collection of luxury properties, including Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Berkeley, The Emory, Maybourne Beverly Hills, and Maybourne Riviera.
