Morrisons appoints ex-Nisa executive to the role of Operations Director

Peter Batt has been named operations director for Morrisons’ convenience arm, Morrisons Daily, the company confirmed in a LinkedIn announcement.

Batt was formerly managing director of Nisa Retail, where he was responsible for more than 4,000 sites.

In a LinkedIn post, Morrisons said: “We’re delighted to welcome Peter Batt to Morrisons as our new operations director for our company-owned convenience business.”

He brings more than three decades of experience in the food retail sector, with a background that includes executive and board-level positions across major retail operations.

Batt also spent a decade at the Co-op Group as divisional managing director, where he oversaw 1,200 stores.

He also spent 20 years at Sainsbury’s, holding senior roles across operations, commercial, and convenience.

The appointment follows Morrisons reporting its 11th consecutive quarter of growth, with like-for-like sales up 3% in Q3 despite facing “significant cost headwinds.”

Just last month, Morrisons appointed former Aldi executive Andy Gillies as its new logistics director.
