Midcounties Co-operative has acquired Buffer Bear, the Reading-based chain of 24 children's nurseries with 650 staff, for undisclosed terms. The Midcounties Co-operative is the second largest independent co-operative in the UK with gross sales of £787 million. It covers the areas shown. It is one of several independent co-operatives that mainly uses The Co-operative brand across its businesses.
