Entier launches sixth apprentice scheme for school leavers

Scottish catering firm, Entier is hosting its sixth Fresh Olives apprentice scheme for school leavers. Between 10 and 12 pupils are chosen to take part in a Cook Off, and up to three from these are selected to be Fresh Olives.

Backed by the Scottish Government’s business to education programme, Fresh Olives marks the start of the first rung on a very credible career path.

The apprentice award competition offers two winners a three-year paid apprenticeship, followed by a full-time job offer.

Over a period of six months, the pupils participated in a series of set tasks and practical assignments all of which were developed and aligned to the national school syllabus.

The assignments are developed by Entier's executive chef Bruce Lawrence who appraises the pupils throughout the six month period along with managing director, Peter Bruce and independent judge George McIvor, the former Chairman of the Master Chefs of Great Britain.

This year, the Fresh Olives scheme has been expanded within the business, and now covers operations and HR.
