Bidvest Foodservice Scotland scoops Corporate Responsibility Award

Shortlisted in five categories at the esteemed Scottish Wholesale Achievers Awards, Bidvest Foodservice Scotland has walked away with the Corporate Responsibility Award and four runner up trophies.

The Awards, run by the Scottish Wholesale Association and hosted at The Sheraton Grand, Edinburgh, are in their 14th year and continue to raise standards and honour exceptional individuals, teams and products across the industry.

The first place win of the night, the Corporate Responsibility Award, is testament to the company’s commitment to sustainability and ties in with its recently launched industry website, plate2planet. Powered by Bidvest Foodservice, plate2planet is a powerful sustainability initiative which revolutionises how the industry shares green knowledge, guidelines and best practice examples with customers and other key industry stakeholders.

The company’s Scottish depots have been working hard on their own sustainability and community initiatives such as introducing load shedding into freezers so that they can be turned off for up to three hours at a time, working closely with WRAP to cut food waste and donating money to local causes. What’s more, the depots have also helped a number of small local suppliers find a route to market by stocking their products in the Scottish brochure.

Bidvest Foodservice Scotland also took an impressive second place victory in four other categories, including; Best Delivered Operation – foodservice, Best Marketing initiative, Great Place to Work, AND Employee of the Year (John McCluskey, Heat of Operations at Edinburgh depot).

Jon Mack, General Manager, Bidvest Foodservice Scotland says; “Entering these awards is an important way of recognising the hard work of every individual in our Scottish depots. This year we have worked with a number of local suppliers to help them find a route to market, which has also opened up the Scottish Larder to our customers.

Sustainability is at the businesses core and is an important part of our forward thinking approach to protecting our planet and our industry for future generations. From energy consumption to community projects, our sustainability strategy covers a comprehensive spectrum of initiatives and involves our customers, too. The four runner up awards were testament to how competitive our industry is and we are pleased to have been recognised among the best in Scotland.”
