Ben Murphy to open his first restaurant next month


Former Young National Chef of the Year, Ben Murphy is set to open his first fine-dining restaurant, The Woodford, on 1 March in east London's South Woodford.

Backed by Essex restaurateur Steve Andrews, the new restaurant will be a 100-seater restaurant over two floors, featuring a dedicated oyster and seafood bar.

The menu will see British ingredients used with French techniques with dishes such as Lamb with aubergine & toasted peanut , and Olive oil cake with lemon thyme sorbet & buttermilk.

There will also be a grill section with a range of long-aged meats, chops, Creedy Carver duck, and Norfolk Black whole chicken.

Murphy spent three years working for Pierre Koffmann at the Berkeley following that with two years in France at three Michelin-starred restaurants Les Pres d’Eugenie and Epicure at Le Bristol in Paris. Most recently he's worked at The Greenhouse in Mayfair.
