Wyevale Garden Centres appoints new CFO

Wyevale Garden Centres (WGC) has appointed Anthony Jones as the new Chief Financial Officer, who was previously the Executive Vice President and CFO at WWRD (Waterford-Wedgwood-Royal Doulton), a private equity-backed turnaround.

Jones replaces Nils Steinmeyer, who will step down after almost four very successful years with Wyevale Garden Centres. Steinmeyer is to stay with the business for the next three months to ensure a smooth handover.

This change takes the Terra Firma Capital Partners-backed WGC group another step forward as they enter the next phase of its strategy and helps develop its position as the UK’s largest garden centre retailer.

The news comes just weeks after Roger Mclaughlan was announced as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Mclaughlan said, “I’m very pleased that Anthony Jones will join us, taking on the role of CFO. Anthony has over 20 years of experience within a range of retail and consumer environments and he brings a wealth of experience to WGC that extends across business transformation, in addition to finance.”

Stephen Murphy, Chairman, said, “Nils has been instrumental in the transformation of WGC during his tenure and I’d like to thank him for his significant contribution and efforts in positioning the business for its next phase of growth.
