Amaris earmarks £24m to expand three hotels

Amaris Hospitality is to invest £24m in expanding three hotels in Oxford, Belfast and Dublin, adding an extra 237 rooms.

The hotel company, which was created by Lone Star last year, will add an additional 72 rooms at the four star Jurys Inn hotel in Oxford as well as an extra meeting space.

The group will spend £5.7m on the plans, with work set to be completed in October. The Jurys Inn currently has 168 bedrooms, 20 meeting and event rooms.

Hilton Garden Inn in Dublin, which was just rebranded from a Jurys Inn, will also gain an additional 85 bedrooms following a £10m investment, while Jurys Inn Belfast is set to receive an £8m capital investment to create an extra 80 rooms and refurbish all existing rooms.

The move will bring Amaris total investment to £124m, as part of its efforts to refurbish and rebrand 23 hotels across its 74 strong portfolio. It is also currently in advanced discussions on a number of new development and acquisition projects.

Amaris chief executive John Brennan said, “The UK hospitality sector is experiencing positive momentum, with the Amaris Hospitality Group making excellent progress on its previously announced business plan. We’re are therefore committing an extra £24m to add 237 rooms to three landmark hotels.

“The Company continues to trade very well, with further potential to grow the Jurys Inn brand in key UK cities, including other potential extensions.'
