Spring menu wine tasting event announced at Vinoteca

On Wednesday, 24 May, Vinoteca owners Brett Woonton and Charlie Young will be hosting Liquid Spring, a special wine tasting that will reveal the most unusual and surprising varietals from their new Spring/Summer 2017 menu.

Hosted in the intimate private dining room from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Vinoteca Farringdon, novice wine drinkers and oenophiles alike will enjoy a variety of 15 wines from some of the world’s most dynamic wine regions.

With a relaxed vibe, the Liquid Spring wine tasting will be a fun and informal approach to wine and guests will have the chance to learn as much or as little as they’d like about the differing wines. A selection of superb whites, reds, rosés and sparkling wines will be on display for guests to sample throughout the evening whilst socialising alongside breadsticks and olives to snack on.

Woonton and Young will be making the rounds to chat through tasting notes, the history of the wines and will answer any questions guests may have.

The range of wines in the Liquid Spring collection will be diverse, featuring classics from the Old World to some exciting, up-and-coming wineries of the New World. A few sublime varieties include a 2015 Folle Blanche, Lunaeau Papin from the Loire Valley in France.

Ultra-fresh and savoury with bursts of rock melon and preserved lemon, this dry wine pairs perfectly with oysters on a warm summer’s day. Another refreshing white is a 2015 barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc from Germany that features gooseberry, peach and pineapple notes that has big intensity and a smoky lift.

Stand out summer reds include the 2016 Cinsault from Mark Haisma in France. This unusual new wine is produced in a keg and has intense cherry notes. Another red to take note of is the 2015 Little William Syrah from South Africa. Remarkably intense, spicy and fresh, this unusual variety is a true match for some of France’s best known and most expensive Northern Rhone reds.

After the tasting, guests can purchase their favourite bottles from the Liquid Spring collection at shop price (40%-60% off drink in prices) and enjoy dinner in the restaurant from Vinoteca’s ever-changing seasonal menu.
