Hotel within Otterburn Hall estate sold to experienced operator

The Coach House Hotel, which sits within the Otterburn Hall Estate in central Northumberland, has been sold by Christie & Co off an asking price of £550k.

The 14-bed boutique hotel, previously owned by Julie Blackie, also includes a restaurant and a two-bedroom cottage.

The buyer, Paul Cook, who currently operates a similar business in Stirling near Edinburgh, wanted to move back towards his native Tyneside so this provided the ideal opportunity.

Mark Worley, Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, commented, “We received the instruction in January this year and our marketing efforts immediately generated interest.

“The speed of the sale and the levels of interest shown in the hotel illustrate the healthy demand for small to medium sized hotels, pubs and leisure businesses in Northumberland. This disposal follows on from the recent sales of the Manor House Hotel on Holy Island, The Coquetvale in Rothbury and The Hadrian Hotel near Hexham.”

Julie Blackie added, “From contacting Mark in early January to completing the deal in late April is absolutely amazing.”
