JJ Food Service secures multi-million pound deal with London Borough

National wholesaler JJ Food Service has renewed a multi-million pound contract to supply school meals for the London Borough of Newham.

The wholesaler has supplied the borough for the past four years with frozen foods and has been successful in adding grocery products to the contract, more than doubling its value.

Group General Manager, Terry Larkin said, “This is a testament to all the hard work already being done by our drivers, helpers, loaders, telesales, buyers and customer service teams.”

“We’d like to extend special thanks to our Group Accounts Acquisition Manager, Nina Grosicka, who has a fantastic relationship with Newham and worked extremely hard to ensure our tender gave us the best chance of success.”

Newham is one of a very small number of authorities that provide free school meals to junior pupils as well as infants. In spring 2018, the catering and other services currently provided by the Newham team are being externalised as a stand-alone business under the name of Juniper Ventures Limited.

Michael Hales, Managing Director of Newham’s flourishing school meals service, said, “We are delighted to build on our relationship with JJ. Competitive pricing was key together with JJ’s expertise in technology, enabling us to expand operations in a paperless environment.”
