Travelodge opens Liverpool John Lennon Airport hotel

The UK’s first budget hotel chain, Travelodge which currently operates 558 hotels has officially opened its 14th hotel in Merseyside at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport Travelodge is the company’s 26th airport hotel and its eight Travelodge in Liverpool. The airport hotel features 100-rooms, a Bar Café, three meeting rooms and on-site car-parking.

The hotel was a former Holiday Inn Express and in autumn 2017, Travelodge acquired a 25-year operating lease to take over the hotel. During the last six months, the hotel has undergone a £2m refurbishment to upgrade the hotel into Travelodge’s new contemporary brand design. This investment has also created 22 new jobs within the community. Rooms are available from £29.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport Travelodge is being managed by Stacey Coleclough who joined the company as a guest room cleaner in 2009 and has successfully climbed the career ladder at Travelodge into a management position.

The hotel was officially opened by The Lord Mayor, Councillor Malcolm Kennedy, and local girl from Woolton, Nicola Stevens who is now Travelodge Regional Director for the North. Nicola born and raised in Liverpool is a true testament of Travelodge’s commitment to develop its people.

Stevens started with Travelodge in 2004 as an assistant hotel manager at Liverpool Central Travelodge. Over the last 14 years, she has successfully climbed the career ladder into a top Director position and is today responsible for Travelodge hotels and nearly 2,000 team members across the north of England.

Nichola Stevens, Travelodge Regional Director for the North said, “It is such an honour to be opening a Travelodge hotel in my home city at John Lennon Airport. I never thought when I started with the company over 14 years ago that I would be given this privilege one day. Over the last three decades, Travelodge has become famous across Merseyside for offering unbeatable value and making travel affordable for everyone, which has helped attract more business and leisure travellers to the area.”

“As we look to the future, Merseyside remains a key growth area for Travelodge and we are looking to boost our existing network of 14 hotels with a further four hotel sites in: Liverpool City Centre by the Empire theatre / University, Birkenhead, Formby and St. Helens. This expansion represents an investment of £24 million for third party investors and a job creation of nearly 100 new jobs.”

Stacey Coleclough, Hotel Manager at Liverpool John Lennon Airport Travelodge, said, “Our new Travelodge hotel has got off to a flying start. I have built a great strong team who have the potential to be managers of the future. Customers love our new look contemporary hotel design and the homage we have paid to Britain’s most popular Scousers, it’s such a talking point at check-in.”

Liverpool John Lennon Airport Travelodge offers a fully comprehensive meeting package for its three meeting rooms which can accommodate up to 25 people. This includes refreshments, lunch and WiFi.
