Thwaites Fareham hotel & spa gets £250k revamp

There's a new look for Daniel Thwaites' restaurant and bar at Solent Hotel & Spa, Fareham, following an investment of over £250k.

The Terrace restaurant and bar has a new contemporary style and is much brighter after walls were knocked down to open up the space. Its new interior has drawn a big influence from its coastal surroundings, with nautical colours and seaside themed artwork and bric-a-brac.

Steve Woodrow, General Manager, said, 'It looks fantastic and the feedback from our guests, spa members and staffhave been amazing. It's been a full refurbishment across all areas, so everything is new - from flooring, furniture to the lighting.

'The difference is striking from the moment guests enter - we have broken through walls so there is a more of an 'open plan' feeling, however it still leads you into the different spaces that you can escape to in the bar and restaurant making it lighter and airier. We've stripped back lots of oak timber and new stone style flooring - it just looks great.

'We have kept some of the popular aspects of the old restaurant, including the fireplace and chef's table but there are lots of new aspects. One of the key new features is the introduction of some fabulous booth seating areas which are perfect for families and groups and we expect them to be really popular, especially the one in the centre of the bar.'

Well over £5m has been spent across the hotel in past 12 months. The venue opened a premium budget accommodation building last July - The Lodge at Solent, with its pub, Parson's Collar Pub & Kitchen, seeing a refurbishment. It also made enhancements to its spa and updated meeting rooms, bedrooms and premier suites.
