Crown Estate Plans St James’s Development

The Crown Estate has drawn up plans for a £400m redevelopment of three sites in St. James’s in central London which will create 45,000 sq ft of restaurant, retail, and leisure space as well as 200,000 sq ft of office space. The lead scheme, situated in between Haymarket and Regent Street and known as St. James’s Market, will be a commercial redevelopment of two blocks designed by Make Architects. The Haymarket block will be replaced, while the Regent Street block will be redeveloped behind both retained and new façades. The Crown Estate will hold talks with the local community about the proposals before submitting a formal planning application to Westminster City Council this summer.
