New Holyhead Marina Receives Green Light

The Isle of Anglesey County Council has approved plans for a £100m mixed-use marina development at Holyhead marina, despite local opposition.

The scheme includes 326 apartments and townhouses, a 500 berth marina and 50,000 sq ft of retail, leisure, restaurants, hotel and office space. The development comes as proposals were put forward as a joint venture between Stena Line and Conygar Investment Company.

The approval wasn’t so straight forward though as thousands of residents signed a position against the plans. The new joint venture partners have said that once completed, the development could create up to 700 jobs, with local tourism also due to rise.
