Do & Co to cut over 1,000 jobs at Heathrow


Global airline and event catering group, Do & Co is to axe 1,068 jobs at Heathrow, according to the Unite union, leaving it with 500 staff.

Headquartered in Vienna, Do & Co, which counts British Airways as its largest customer, reported that its global revenues fell by 87% between April and June due to the pandemic lockdown.

The company had been continuing the process of taking over all catering for British Airways after being awarded the contract in 2018.

Other airline caterers at Heathrow, like Gate Gourmet and dnata, have put staff onto the Job Retention Scheme, which has been extended today to March 2021.

Do & Co, which was was formed in 1981, also caters for rail networks and international events, and provides services through its restaurants, bars, lounges, and hotel.
