It's been announced that The University Caterers Organisation Ltd (TUCO) is the newly merged company of TUCO Organisation and TUCO Purchasing Ltd. Promotion of professional standards, excellence in training and development and effective procurement routes through a range of framework agreements are at the heart of this newly created enterprise.
Julie Barker, managing director of TUCO Ltd, said that the strategic aims of the new organisation would remain faithful to the objectives of its predecessors. The board of directors of the new organisation include representatives from both the TUCO Organisation and TUCO Purchasing Ltd. It will be chaired by Ms Barker, the head of accommodation and hospitality services at the University of Brighton.
TUCO offers membership to any UK university offering 'in-house' catering to its students and staff and is the membership body of choice for catering directors and managers working in University and Colleges. The framework agreements offer efficient and economic purchasing to Universities, Colleges and some local authorities, managed by the professional procurement team in its Salford office.
