Mei Ume creates festive menu for two-week Chinese celebration

From 7 September, Mei Ume, the Chinese and Japanese restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square will celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with the launch of their festive menu and intricately crafted mooncakes.

One of the most important dates in the Chinese calendar, the festival celebrates the harvest moon, with families and communities gathering for celebrations of feasting and toasting, culminating in the final day of the festival on 21 September.

In honour of this auspicious festival, Head Chef Tony Truong has crafted a special menu of Chinese dishes traditionally eaten during the festival to symbolize gratitude and togetherness.

Dim Sum prepared by Mei Ume’s dedicated team of dim sum chefs will be filled with Har Gau, Siu Mai and Black Truffle whilst the restaurants’ signature Peking Duck will be served with pancakes, as well as palette cleansing cucumber and shredded leeks.

ompleting the menu will be prized Lobster with Ginger and Spring Onions, Soy and Ginger Steam Seabass and Golden Fried Corn-Fed Chicken.

Taking centre stage are the emblems of the festival, mooncakes, which are traditionally gifted between friends and families on the eve of the harvest moon. From the 7th to 21st September, Mei Ume’s mooncakes will also be available to purchase in a beautifully decorated East-meets-West style box.

Truong has crafted four different iterations of the delicate pastries, both traditional and snow-skinned (mochi), with flavours including Red bean paste and pine nuts; White lotus with salted egg; Rose Jam; and completing the quartet, Matcha.

Truong said, “The mid-Autumn festival is always one of my favourite times of the year at Mei Ume. Back home , it’s a joyful time when my family and friends gather for celebrations and to exchange mooncakes. We do the same here at Mei Ume and I look forward to sharing a mooncake with our guests.'
