Bright Blue Foods has signed a licensing agreement to make ambient cakes under licence for Aunt Bessie’s, which will be launched in Tesco this month.
This is Aunt Bessie’s first forray into the ambient cake category and there are a range of nine traditional cakes and pastries featuring tarts, loaf cakes and sharing cakes.
The choice of flavours is a result of consumer research, which showed that people were looking for good quality, every day cake.
The tart range features hand finished almond Bakewell tarts, raspberry and coconut tarts and jam bakes.
The hand finished loaf cakes are available in three flavours: carrot cake, a sticky ginger cake, and a jam and coconut cake.
Bright Blue Foods, which is targeting annual revenues of £100m, is also looking to increase production after investing £2m in its Shadsworth bakery.
