Nisa & Too Good To Go reach Magic Bag milestone

Nisa’s independent retailers have reached a Magic Bag milestone with 100,000 meals now saved since the relationship with surplus food app Too Good To Go began in 2019.

With 300 stores now signed up to the app, the latest figure equates to a saving of 250 tonnes of Co2e.

Together the Nisa sites are actively fighting food waste through the free app and ensuring the Magic Bags of food are prevented from being thrown away.

Every week well over 1,000 meals are saved across Nisa stores with recent figures showing more than 1,300 being saved weekly.

The app presents retailers with a useful tool to drastically reduce the amount of food waste in store whilst offering a helping hand to the community by sharing cut price products at a time when the cost of living is a real issue.

Ian Bacon, Nisa’s lead for the partnership with Too Good To Go, noted, “Every Nisa store that has so far partnered with Too Good To Go have given positive feedback about how simple the app is to use and the impact on the local community.

“We are all very aware of the cost-of-living crisis and the Too Good To Go app is one way that Nisa retailers can offer support to their shoppers really effectively.”

Too Good To Go will be attending Nisa’s annual retail show at Stoneleigh next month to meet more retailers and share solutions on how to implement sustainable operations such as food waste reduction and the business benefits in doing so.
