The Dim Sum Terrace opens in Harrods


A new restaurant in Harrods, The Dim Sum Terrace has just opened. Located on the 4th floor, the new spot will entertain guests in a bright new restaurant and an ultra exclusive terrace, one of only two outdoor spaces within the Knightsbridge institution.

Inspired by the teahouses of China, the menu celebrates the versatility of dim sum with a range of styles and fillings. The plump traditional Cantonese dumplings represent a convivial style of dining, and so the new venue is perfect for a range of occasions, whether it’s a quick refuel during shopping, a long lunch with friends, or a sharing sundowner on the terrace of an evening.

The restaurant runs along the side of Harrods, and the conservatory-style design means the bright and airy restaurant is bathed in bright natural light throughout the day. Brass topped tables glint in the sunshine, with the original and iconic Baroque brown-brick and alcove wall of Harrods providing a beautiful interior detail and a subtle juxtaposition with the stylish and modern aesthetic.

As the weather warms, the new terrace will no doubt prove to be one of London’s most desirable al fresco spots. Once evening falls, the exclusive space turns into the perfect spot for a sunset soirée.

With views over West London and its impressive Victorian townhouses, the intimate terrace is a welcome refuge off the bustling streets of Knightsbridge - a spot to enjoy one of the cocktails from The Dim Sum Terrace’s extensive drinks list while savouring the lighter and milder evenings of the upcoming summer months.

Alongside all the classics, the experts behind the bar have devised a collection of juicy signature cocktails such as the Picanteria - a bright and zingy drink that packs a spicy punch with Jose Cuervo Reposado, fresh coriander, agave syrup, fresh lime juice and jalapen~o and the sweet Amaretto and Grapefruit Sour with amaretto, lime Juice simple syrup, grapefruit pure´e and finished off with elderflower liqueur.

There is also an extensive list of traditional Chinese teas, all served in beautiful glass tea-wear as well as a refined selection of non-alcoholic cocktails.

There will also be an ultra-premium cognac and cigar offering, courtesy of Louis XIII. All of The Dim Sum Terrace’s dumplings are handmade by the in-house chefs each morning. The offering is a complementary combination of well-loved classics alongside some more unusual dumplings that are unique to the restaurant, as well as creative takes on traditional Chinese dishes.

Amongst the bamboo baskets filled with bright and beautiful dumplings, diners can find parcels filled with a range of the very finest ingredients.

From the decadent dim sum of scallop and prawn siu mai topped with foie grasto lighter bites such as fermented chilli and dover sole dumplings, to delicate and fragrant lobster and coriander dumplings stuffed with generous hunks of the sweet seafood, fresh coriander and topped with caviar, the team are serving up some of the very best dim sum in London.

Alongside the classics, the menu also features typical Cantonese options such as juicy pork sui long bao topped with vinegar pearls, filled with a steamy, rich and savoury broth; chunky prawn-filled dumplings in a spicy XO sauce and BBQ pork char siu bao - sweet and sticky pork swaddled in a super soft and pillowy bun.

Further down the menu is a range of baked and fried dumplings; served hot, salty, and crunchy, they act as the perfect counterpart to the towering bamboo basket of steamed goods.

Giant King scallops are coated in crisp shreds of Kataifi pastry, creating a nest that is filled with sweet mango mayonnaise and salmon roe. The classic Taro dumpling gets a Dim Sum Terrace twist; elevated with tender Wagyu and tangy plum sauce, before being deep-fried until crispy, golden, and topped with salty caviar.
