The Inn on the Shore pub, Downderry, Cornwall, has reopened after the completion of a spectacular £500k investment from independent pub giant, Punch.
The waterside pub, which is situated between the bay of Whitsand and the promontory of Looe, is being operated by experienced publicans, Ben Criddle and Jess Louvel (pictured).
The first phase of the refurbishment completed this week with the doors reopening to show off a completely new look and extended pub with two large al fresco eating and drinking areas.
Managing director for Punch, Andy Spencer said, “This is a significant investment by Punch in this unique coastal pub and with our new Publicans, Ben and Jess and we are extremely pleased with it.
'By matching this pub with great people like Ben and Jess, we are very confident that they will create a brilliant pub for the area, welcoming locals and visitors alike.
'We invited the local neighbours along early as we wanted to thank them for their patience during the refurbishment and their support. Everyone was really impressed with the pub which we believe will bring the village together.’
The pub will serve food all day, every day including three signature Cornish mussel dishes supplied by the Fowey Shellfish company and other fish dishes like “On the Shores board” fish sharing platter.
The pub will offer on tap its very own Inn on the Shore cask ale called “It’s a Shore thing” and has a “Gin on the Shore” list of 35 gins. In August the pub will also launch eight new en-suite rooms created from a first-floor extension to the pub.

The investment at the pub is part of a £30m investment programme scheduled for this year by independent pub operator, Punch.
