Hyatt to grow its UK portfolio by 30% by 2026

Hyatt Hotels has announced plans to grow its UK portfolio by 30% within the next two years.

This follows the recent launch of the 217-key Hyatt Place Leeds and the 88-key Hyatt House Leeds, designed for extended stays, earlier this month by the Chicago-based hotel company. Additionally, in October 2024, the group debuted the UK's first Park Hyatt London River Thames.

Hyatt plans to add over 1,000 rooms in the UK over the next two years, identifying the region as a “priority growth market.” Potential expansion destinations include Oxford, Cambridge, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff, York, Bath, and Belfast.

The UK is currently Hyatt’s third-largest market in the EAME region, following Germany and Spain.

Upcoming openings include the 87-room Hyatt Place London Paddington, the third Hyatt Place in the capital, and the 200-room Hyatt Regency London Olympia, which will be the seventh Hyatt Regency in the UK.

Hyatt has been rapidly expanding its UK portfolio in recent years, now boasting 17 hotels across nine brands.

As a result, Hyatt has more than doubled its number of rooms in the UK and tripled its property footprint since 2017.

In Q4 2024, Hyatt recorded a 5% increase in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) requests across Europe compared to Q4 2023, with 7,000 of these originating from the UK.

Anna Corkill, regional vice president of development for UK & Ireland at Hyatt, said: “The UK remains a priority growth market for Hyatt. We are committed to expanding our portfolio of brands in locations that matter most to our guests, members, customers, and owners and I have no doubt the UK will continue to be a strong contributor to Hyatt’s growth journey in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.”
