Celebrating businesses across the industry who 'safeguard seafood supplies for now and future generations', the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) held its annual MSC Awards.

The winners are as follows:

• Foodservice Wholesaler of the Year - Brakes
• Fresh Foodservice Wholesaler of the Year - M&J Seafood
• Frozen Brand of the Year - Birds Eye
• Retail Supplier of the Year - New England Seafood International
• Chef of the Year- Mitch Tonks (Seahorse restaurant, Dartmouth)
• Special AchievementAward- Scottish Fisheries Sustainable Accreditation Group (SFSAG)
• Newcomer of the Year - The Reel Fish Co
• Best Innovator Award - The Southern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (Southern IFCA)

The awards also revealed that millennials are ‘leading the way’ in sustainable seafood, with 52% of 18-34 year olds claiming to prefer to choose eco-labelled fish and seafood compared to 37% of those over 55 in the UK.
