The non-clinical support services, which Carillion will be in charge of will be worth aroung £100m over the duration of the contract.

The new hospital will be the largest in the UK and will be built next to the existing hospital which will be demolished once services have been transferred.

Work is scheduled to start in early 2014 with the project due for completion in 2017.

Carillion added that a world class Liverpool BioCampus will be built where the current hospital stands. This is expected to play a key part in transforming the area and regenerating the Knowledge Quarter of the City.
