Healthcare food company BonCulina has officially entered administration

Healthcare food company Anglia Crown, which has been operating under the BonCulina brand, has been placed into administration this week.

Colchester-based Anglia Crown was acquired by international foodservice brand BonCulina in May 2023, with the Anglia Crown name subsequently phased out.

The company supplied meals to more than 100 hospitals and employed around 170 staff across its Colchester headquarters and a smaller depot in Preston.

It wrote to staff this week to say: “I am writing to confirm that, as a result of the company’s insolvency and in consideration of its financial position, the company is no longer in a position to continue your contract of employment and you are being made redundant on economic grounds.

“You should therefore regard your service as terminated with effect from 10th November 2025.”

The company specialised in producing frozen and chilled prepared meals tailored for hospitals and care environments.

The appointed administrators, Kroll Advisory Ltd, will aim to rescue the company as a going concern or, if that proves unfeasible, to secure the best possible outcome for creditors rather than proceeding with an immediate closure.
