Calthorpe Estates plans new retail sites to create Edgbaston urban village

Calthorpe Estates is seeking permission from Birmingham City Council for new retail sites on Greenfield Crescent, which is part of plans to create an urban village in Edgbaston.

Currently, within 'The Village', there is the award-winning Simpsons restaurant, The High Field gastro pub, The Edgbaston cocktail bar, eatery and boutique hotel, The Blue Piano eatery. There are also Costa Coffee and Starbucks outlets, along with the Edgbaston Deli and Scoff sandwich bar.

Opportunities exist for budget, mid-range and high-end boutique hotels. The Village is within walking distance of the International Convention Centre, which welcomes 300,000 visitors per year, and the National Indoor Arena, which has over 700,000 visitors per year.

The Village sits within Edgbaston Medical Quarter and is adjacent to Pebble Mill, home to 180 medical organisations and a hub of life science excellence.
