Motel One plans third Manchester hotel

Motel One is planning for its third Manchester hotel in the city centre site, having signed up to 3 St Peter’s Square in another deal with Property Alliance Group.

The budget-design hotel group has agreed space for 328 bedrooms, subject to Alliance obtaining a satisfactory planning consent for the site. The application will be submitted early next year and if approved, construction is expected to start in spring.

Designed by Stephenson Studios in conjunction with Motel One’s architect Leach Rhodes Walker, plans for the new scheme also include residential space above the hotel, replacing the former Royal London proposals for a 12-storey office.

Motel One at St Peter’s Square would add to the chain’s 298-bed hotel opposite the Royal Exchange on Cross Street, which is due to be completed in 2017, and its 330-bed Piccadilly hotel which opened in 2015.
